Research Plan ~Medial Axis Planning~
Project Overview
The medial axis is a set of points equal between 2 or more obstacles. The exact medial axis can be used up to the 6 degrees of freedom which is usual in 3 dimensions. The approx medial axis can be used in a arbitrary dimensions which is why the medial axis is very useful. The medial axis a useful tool for computing high clearance motions and paths. Knowing this the concept of this is using a random amount of point, free or not, and retracting them to the medial axis by monitoring when the witness point changes during the retraction.
Project Goals and Implications
The project that I am working has already been test but mentor and Dr.Amato want to update the data because the coding has been added to and rearranged differently. The idea is to fix the codes of the previous data than, have the team test them and hope that the data is still the same from before. The point of the project is to redo the test because the server are now update, we want to make sure the result are aligned with the previous data.
Personal Goals
My goals is to learn the idea of Medial Axis Planning and get a better view of the coding that will be used when I go for my bachelors. Also this will give me a wider understanding of the field I am entering.
